The Argentinean 3D animated feature film Metegol (2013) by Juan José Campanella has been dubbed into peninsular Spanish and into neutral Spanish. The current paper aims to compare the three versions of the film. Selected sample lines containing elements typical of the Argentinian language and culture will be analysed at the lexical and morphosyntactic levels to establish whether and how they have undergone adaptation and/or neutralization processes. Given the primary target audience of Metegol, the analysis will also take into account the translation needs of audiovisual products targeting youngsters and children.

Abstract

The Argentinean 3D animated feature film Metegol (2013) by Juan José Campanella has been dubbed into peninsular Spanish and into neutral Spanish. The current paper aims to compare the three versions of the film. Selected sample lines containing elements typical of the Argentinian language and culture will be analysed at the lexical and morphosyntactic levels to establish whether and how they have undergone adaptation and/or neutralization processes. Given the primary target audience of Metegol, the analysis will also take into account the translation needs of audiovisual products targeting youngsters and children.
