Food is a fundamental key to the sustainability of socio-ecological systems, as it interacts with life on individual, social and ecological scales. Thus, within the legal perspective, this paper stems from the premise that there is an intricate relationship between food-related rights/duties and life-related rights/duties at different levels, and young generations are sensitively important in this agenda, as consumers with food choices still in formation and who will become the protagonists of the society in the future. Given this, the paper aims to provide a brief legal overview to identify some of the main lines of development of school-based food and nutrition education (SFNE) strategies in supranational and national public institutions, focusing on the initiatives at the international level and in the European Union, in countries such as Italy, Spain, and Germany, as well as considering some relevant experiences of non-European countries, namely Japan and Brazil. As for the conclusions, the paper suggests some considerations concerning legal techniques, purposes, approaches and values underlying SFNE’s application.

Abstract
As for the conclusions, the paper suggests some considerations concerning legal techniques, purposes, approaches and values underlying SFNE’s application.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
