On the one hand, the article aims to propose the reconstruction that Giovanni Pascoli offers on the evolution of the role of the Greek epic singer, in his critical reflections based on ancient sources; on the other hand, it shows that these theoretical presuppositions are reflected in the verses of the “Convivial Poems”, in which classical themes and quotations acquire new and modern meanings.
