Abstract
The article investigates the recurrence and function of metaphors concerning food and drink in Pindar. Metaphorical expressions are often used in a positive sense, expressing the satisfaction offered by the encomiastic hymn, which is able to satisfy ‘hunger’ and ‘thirst’ for songs; yet sometimes they have a negative meaning, for example in cases where a voracious and excessive diet suggests a metaphorical interpretation of arrogant and outrageous behavior.File in questo prodotto:
