This brief paper aims to reconstruct the events of the memoria of the emperor Ser. Sulpicius Galba from 69 AD until the Trajan’s age, also in order to explain the absence of any reference to Galba in the so called lex de imperio Vespasiani and its mention in the municipal statutes of the Flavian period (first of all in the lex Irnitana). The main these of the paper is that, after his murder, Galba was subjected to a damnatio memoriae, then revoked by a senatorial decree of January 70 AD. Then Vespasian abolished the decree in October 70 AD, so restoring the effects of the damnatio. Titus finally did a restitutio of Galba during his short principate, also because of the good remembrance of this emperor: his memoria still persisted indeed during the Trajan’s age.

Abstract
Titus finally did a restitutio of Galba during his short principate, also because of the good remembrance of this emperor: his memoria still persisted indeed during the Trajan’s age.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
