The synthesis and characterization of two novel Ni(II) ternary complexes, containing tren and neutral adenine or imidazole have been reported. The investigation gains further insights into the nature of Ni(II)-nitrogen bond in complexes with nucleobases. An exclusive Ni-N3 bonding in the complex of adenine is reported for the first time.
