The teeth of six individuals fronr Grotta del Romito at Papasidero (Cosenza), dating back to the end of the Upper palaeolithic around 11,000 B.P.), were analysed from a metrical, morphological and pathological point of view. The group consists of three females (Rom 1, 4 and 5), two males (Rom 3 and 6) and one indiviclual which is probably male (Rom 2). The individuals are adult (Rom 1 , 3, 5 and 6) or subadult (Rom 2 and 4). The metrical values of tlre analysed teeth are within the variability of those of the homologous teeth of the Upper Palaeolithic specimens compared to them. Yet , we observed that they tend to fall within a well defined sector of this" variability. We presume a probable endogamy which seems to have characterized the sample from Romito. This hypothesis may be corroboratecl by the steady recurrence or morphological traits. The pathological marks consist of traces oi enanrel hypoplasia in Rom 4, one caries in Rom l, three fistular abscesses in Rom 5 and periodontal disease in the last two individuals.
