The Canale Ianchina tomb material situated in the hinterland of the ancient site of Locri and excavated by Paolo Orsi in 1909 and 1912, dates from the 9th to the last quarter of the 8th century BC. When put in relation to the textile tools from the nearby necropoleis of Torre Galli and Incoronata – San Teodoro, the site of Timpone della Motta at Francavilla Marittima, as well as to mineralised textiles recovered in south Italian funerary contexts, the tools offer interesting considerations on Early Iron Age textile culture and its influence on the later Greek and Indigenous interaction in textile production.

Abstract
The Canale Ianchina tomb material situated in the hinterland of the ancient site of Locri and excavated by Paolo Orsi in 1909 and 1912, dates from the 9th to the last quarter of the 8th century BC. When put in relation to the textile tools from the nearby necropoleis of Torre Galli and Incoronata – San Teodoro, the site of Timpone della Motta at Francavilla Marittima, as well as to mineralised textiles recovered in south Italian funerary contexts, the tools offer interesting considerations on Early Iron Age textile culture and its influence on the later Greek and Indigenous interaction in textile production.File in questo prodotto:
