The Fayum: A Changing Landscape

In the last years, several articles and volumes have been published on Fayum’s history, archaeology, and geo-morphology, with an increasing interest for the impact of climate changes on the landscape evolution in a multi-disciplinary perspective. The region has proved to be an interesting case study, for its environmental characteristics and for the possibility of comparing them with a large number of literary and documentary sources. This paper will put together the available evidence and the results of recent researches to offer an overview of the eventual changes in the Fayum landscape, which in the past was quite different from what we may see today.
