The aim of this article is to show how the rhetorical tradition, in which Gorgias was one of the leading figures, was used in the field of Renaissance Aristotelianism. While there are numerous studies on the use of rhetoric in general during the age of Humanism and in the Renaissance and there are also many studies on the use of dialectics as a scientific method in the same period but outside the realm of Aristotelianism, very little research has been done that focuses on the use of rhetoric within Aristotelianism. In this article there are some important aspects concerning not only the role of rhetoric within the Aristotelian tradition of the 16th century but also its use for scientific and methodological purposes.
