Reconciliation between family and work is one of the most discussed matters in the national and international debate on welfare; for this reason, we decided to focus our study on working mothers, the group of women more in need of a support network. After an overview on childcare services in Europe, the attention is focused on the Italian case. The aim of this analysis deals with drawing the relational networks (support networks) of mothers with children aged 0-2 years. As a matter of fact, thanks to the contents of the Istat Sample Survey on Births in Italy, it is possible to build up a map of the relationships stratified by working mothers’ household composition
