The Tractatio de praecognitionibus et praecognitis is one of the first works written by Galileo Galilei and probably dates back to the period between 1588 and 1591, which is the period of Galilei’s teaching at the University of Pisa. It deals with the discussion on the notions necessary for the structuring of scientific knowledge and constitutes a commentary at the beginning of the first book of Aristotle’s Posterior Analytics. This text is thus one of Galileo’s first reflections on the Aristotle’s Organon and on the principles of scientific knowledge.
