The increasing amount of waste tyres worldwide makes tyres disposition a relevant problem to be solved. In the last years only a limited quantity of waste tyres has been utilized for reconstruction and energy recovery, while the most part of them has been disposed into landfills. The European Union Landfill Directive aims to stop the landfill disposal of waste tyres, therefore the development of new markets for these products becomes fundamental. In the recent years some research works have been devoted to the use of rubber particles and still fibers obtained from waste tyres in concrete; the available literature on this topic furnishes promising indications. On the basis of the previous considerations an experimental investigation, still in progress, has been planned in order to analyze the performances of concrete reinforced by RSF (Recycled Steel Fibers) obtained by waste tyres. First obtained results are reported and discussed in this paper.
