In the occasion of the Dakhleh Oasis Project 30th anniversary the organizers of the Sixth DOP International Conference take the opportunity to enlarge the topic of the meeting to the whole western desert of Egypt and to nearby Libyan desert. International Conferences of DOP have been organized every three years. The previous five Conferences were organized by Universities and were held in Durham in 1994, in Toronto in 1997, in Melbourne in 2000, in Poznan in 2003, and in Cairo in 2006. In this last occasion the meeting was already enlarged to cover the other oases of Egypt; the importance of the exchange of data and knowledge on that occasion have encouraged the organizers to repeat the experience, embracing a wider horizon on the whole Libyan desert. As in previous conferences of the DOP there will be consecutive sections on Prehistory, Physical Anthropology, History, Archaeology and other themes.
