Infomation is one of the main resources of a grid environment. Discovering and monitoring resources are challenging problems due to the dynamic behaviour, geographic distribution and heterogeneity of the grid resources. So, Information Services are fundamental in a grid infrastructure and in this paper we present an information service based on the relational data model. We propose a complementary approach to the existing Globus Monitoring and Discovery Service based on LDAP. We also describe the design of our DGC information service highlighting its extensibility, flexibility, security, scalability and efficiency.
