The behavior of several commercial composites, based on polymeric thermosetting matrices, reinforced with carbon fibers and employed for the restoration of concrete structures, was analyzed in relation to the most common service conditions. In particular, the durability of these composites under different environmental exposure regimes was investigated. To this aim, a temperature and a level of humidity slightly higher than those commonly encountered in our country, but still achievable, were selected. Tensile mechanical tests were, then, performed on the composite materials before and after the exposition to artificially simulated severe environments, evaluating the effects of the exposition on the properties of the materials. The same exposure parameters were used to simulate the environmental severe conditions on the resins employed as matrices for the composite. For comparison purposes, three different commercial resins, all used as matrices of composites for civil engineering applications, were selected and analyzed. The effect of the exposure on the resins was, therefore, evaluated by measuring their physical (thermal, mechanical) properties before and after any treatment.

Abstract
The effect of the exposure on the resins was, therefore, evaluated by measuring their physical (thermal, mechanical) properties before and after any treatment.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
